Describe your business.
We help people become more confident, disciplined, and teach skills that will last a lifetime. All while also learning how to defend themselves.
What is the mission of your business?
To help everyone who walks in our doors to be best version of themselves they can be.
Who is your ideal client or customer?
Children from age 3 to15, but we do have an awesome adult program as well that is growing rapidly.
What is unique about this business or what is the difference between your company and similar companies?
The quality of our classes and our goal to help parents with an easy extracurricular activity. Our schedule is open, so you are not locked into certain days and you are able to come as much as you want. Most places lock you into two or three days and only on certain days. We offer unlimited access, making it easier for parents who have a busy schedule.
Where do you see your business in the next five years? In the next 5 years, we want to be at a bigger location with at least one satellite school in another location.
Meet Andrew Black, Owner & Instructor
How long have you been in this line of work?
Six years
How did you get started in this line of work?
Because Tae Kwon Do gave me such overwhelming confidence growing up, it is something I want to share with everyone I can. So I started my school and have a great time teaching and growing my business.
What has been your most satisfying moment in business or what motivates you to go to work every day?
Watching our students grow to be stronger people and watching more students join our school.
How do you define business success or to what do you attribute your success to in this position?
To me, business success means growing the business to help more people, casting a wider net and being known in our community. I attribute the success I have today to hard work, strategy and the will to never stop learning.
What key activities would you recommend businesspeople to invest their time in?
Every business owner knows how to get their business going, but there are so many small businesses where people crash because they put too much on themselves. Selfcare is the routine maintenance we need to keep our businesses great. Otherwise, we grow to hate our own businesses and then they fail.
Who has been your greatest inspiration?
My first Tae Kwon Do instructor, Master Lee. He was a great person and a greater teacher of not just Tae Kwon Do, but life.
What business-related book is a must-read?
“The E Myth” by Michael E. Gerber
If you were to write a book about yourself, how would you name it and why?
“To Grow” because I thought growing was something that would stop in life, but it doesn’t. I have grown so much in so many different ways that I could have never expected and I am still growing to this day.
