Recipient of the Cultural Council 2012 Founder’s Education award, twice named “Top 50 Dance Studios in the USA” byDance Spirit magazine, and named “Best Dance School” byPalmetto Parent Magazine two years in a row, the faculty at Columbia City Jazz Conservatory posses a profound depth of knowledge and an impressive portfolio of real-world dance experience. CCJ Conservatory instructors and yearly acclaimed guest artists are as passionate about training students as they are about their craft. By challenging you to think beyond a traditional jazz school, the CCJ Conservatory provides an environment for young dancers to grow into cutting-edge artists and trains them to prepare for auditions and admission into some of the top colleges known for dance.
Our Artistic Director, Dale Lam, was named “Top Private Studio/Conservatory Teacher” byDance Teacher magazine and was appointed as an ambassador to The Dance Teacher Summit in Longbeach, California. She is an active choreographer and master instructor teaching throughout the United States and has taught internationally at the Kiradjiev Cultural Center in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Danz Studio in Costa Rica, and the Singapore Dance Association at Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore.
Our programs start with dancers as young as the age of 3. We recognize that most important dance class a child will ever take is their FIRST dance class! For these young dancers, we offer creative movement, pre-ballet, jazz, tap, and hip hop, all taught by qualified adult instructors. Our experienced faculty will make sure each child will have a lot of fun while learning the proper technique they need to move on to more advanced levels when they’re ready.
Our advanced programs provides pre-professional and college preparatory classes in advance ballet and pointe, contemporary, plus one of the only modern programs in the state featuring Graham, Horton, and Limón techniques.
Our recent graduates are attending USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, SUNY Purchase, AMDA, the Weitzenhoffer School of Musical Theatre at The University of Oklahome, and Point Park.
Past alumni are currently touring with Travis Wall’s SHAPING SOUND, performing in CATS on Broadway, featured on Glee, Hairspray Live, dancing at Disney Parks on both sides of the globe, and been in the top 20 on So You Think You Can Dance! CCJ is preparing dancers for their future!
