Chamber President, Chair Tour Lexington One’s Mobile Skills Workshop
The “Be Pro Be Proud” custom-designed, 53-foot 18-wheeler visited White Knoll High School on October 9. Business leaders were invited to tour and Chamber
Chair Angela Klosterman of First Citizens Bank participated in a simulated experience as a commercial truck driver.
The rig is designed as a mobile skills workshop to promote several career fields to high school students, including transportation and logistics, utilities,
construction, and diesel technology, and will tour the state.
“The Lexington Chamber is pleased to show our support of the Be Pro Be Proud statewide initiative,” said Chamber President and CEO Angelle LaBorde. “This
initiative is so important as more than 82 percent of employers in skilled professions report a moderate or serious shortage in skilled production
workers. “Connecting students to meaningful skilled careers can reduce our workforce shortages in the future.”
